"Polar Nights

Aleksi: “I didn’t write a lot of music in 2010 and 2011 because of my military service. This was one of the few and also the last songs I made in 2011 before my computer crashed. Before we started working on it with Ray it wasn’t much longer than a minute. Ray found few hooks from the song. “I want to hear more of this bit” he said. Then he looped the good parts and now we have a ready song.”

Ray: "When I heard the main melody, I knew exactly the sound I wanted to hear it in and then just repeat it forever. However, like in many things in life, you have to engage in moderation. The other parts of the song had to be there so that the main melody would stand out. I struggled with the changing time signatures because I wanted to implement a steady four-on-the-floor beat but in the end the drums turned out very nicely as they were - just had to tune the sound a little.

The melancholic 16-bit synth paints a picture of playing arcade platformers during the winter nights in the 90s. This one is one of my favourites and a guaranteed earworm!""
